    Thursday, April 24, 2024:

    In Tuesday’s Athletic Action.....
    The Softball Team (9-6) beat Ferguson in their regular season finale 10-2. Collins Ames was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, an RBI, and 3 stolen bases, Maryam Rassif was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI, and Leyka Rojo singled and scored. The girls travel to Chaminade to participate in the District Semifinals on Monday at 4pm.
     
    The Varsity Baseball Team (5-16) lost to North Miami Beach High School 5-3. Bruce Cohen threw 6 innings, allowing 6 hits with 4 strikeouts, Avery Sinnes was 1 for 3 with an RBI and run scored, and Preston Boucher and Tanner Sennett each scored a run, and parker Zaron and Marcus Ferrer played well on defense. .
     
    The Boys Varsity Tennis Team (8-5) lost to Ransom Everglades in the Regional Semifinals 4-2. Antonio Moura and Oscar Bergier won their singles matches.
     
    The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (10-3) lost to True North Academy in the Regional Semifinals 5-0.
     
    Today......The Varsity Baseball Team hosts the South Florida Baseball Conference Championships at 3:30/7pm.

    In Friday’s Athletic Action.....
    The Girls Varsity Water Polo Team (13-9) lost to Seminole High School in the State Semifinals 16-4. Valeria Villanueva scored 2 goals, had 3 steals, and 4 ejections drawn, Briana Dunn scored and had 7 steals, Sasha Blasky scored, Micah Ressler added an assist, Sienna Kozlovski had 4 steals and 2 ejections drawn, and Angie Del Guercio-Moran made 3 saves.
     
    The Softball Team (8-6) lost to Pine Crest 1-0. Collins Ames allowed 4 hits, struck out 11, and singled, and Leyka Rojo added a hit.
     
    On Saturday.....
    The Varsity Baseball Team (5-15) lost to Riviera Prep in the South Florida Baseball Conference Semifinals 12-1. Tanner Sennett was 1 for 3 with an RBI double, Marcus Ferrer was 1 for 2, and Preston Boucher played well on defense.
     
    The Boys Middle School Lacrosse Team (2-4-1) beat Gulliver 4-1, but lost to Palmetto 13-2. Benjamin Brady and Andy Vayn each scored 2 goals, Mayer Wolfson added a goal and an assist, Justin Vaughn Bittner scored, Camilo Dargham added an assist, and Greyson Lustbader made 12 saves.
     
    Today..... The Softball Team hosts Ferguson at 4pm, the Varsity Baseball Team hosts North Miami Beach at 7pm (Food Trucks will be on campus from 2-9pm - Street Twist), the Girls Varsity Tennis Team travels to True North Academy (Miami-Dade College Kendall Campus) for Regionals at 2:30pm, and the Boys Varsity Tennis Team travels to Ransom Everglades (Crandon Park) for regionals at 3pm.

    In Thursday’s Athletic Action.......The Varsity Baseball Team (5-14) beat Everglades Prep in the South Florida Baseball Conference Quarterfinals 7-1. Bruce Cohen threw 6 strong innings for the win while striking out 11, Tanner Sennett was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Quinn Smith was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and pitched the final inning, Marcus Ferrer went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, Parker Zaron was 2 for 2 with an RBI and played well on defense, and Jackson Boucher was 2 fo3 3 with a run scored.
     
    Today...... The Girls Varsity Water Polo Team travels to Belen to play Seminole High School in the State Final Four at 3:30pm, and the Softball Team hosts Pine Crest in their annual ‘Senior Game” at 5pm.  
     
    On Saturday.....The Boys Middle School Lacrosse Team travels to Gulliver (Upper School campus) to play at 10:15/11:30am, and the Varsity Baseball Team hosts the South Florida Baseball Conference Semifinals at 10am (Marathon vs. Ransom) and 1pm (MCDS vs. Riviera Prep).

  • Wednesday, April 17, 2024:

    Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Tennis Team. Yesterday, they won their 26th consecutive District Championship. Oscar Bergier and Antonio Moura won their singles division, and Antonio Moura and Michael Claramonte won their doubles division. The boys will host Ransom Everglades in the Regional Finals next Wednesday.
     
    The Varsity Baseball Team (4-14) beat Somerset Homestead in their annual “Senior Game” 7-6.  Senior Avery Sinnes threw 6 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts for the win, scored a run, and drove in 3 runs, Senior Tanner Sennett scored twice, Liam Buttacavoli was 1 for 3 with an RBI, run scored, and recorded the save in relief, Preston Boucher was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI , Jackson Boucher was 2 for 3 with a double, scored a run, and drove in a run, and Jacob Respler singled and scored.
     
    The Girls Varsity Tennis Team finished runner-up in Districts. Cayenne Petit won her singles division. The girls will travel to True North Academy in the Regional Finals next Wednesday.
     
    Today........The Softball Team hosts the South Florida Softball Conference Championships at 3:30pm (consolation game – Ransom vs. Colonial Christian) and 7pm (Championship game- MCDS vs. Carrollton),  with the awards ceremony taking place at 6:15pm.

    Girls Lacrosse..... This year we had Spartan girls lacrosse players tryout for the USA Lacrosse South Florida National Team. This team comprises of girls in grades 9-11 from schools as far as Key West up to Vero Beach. The team will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina over Memorial Day Weekend to play in a tournament against other all-star teams from all over the country. Miami Country Day School has 4 players that made the team and will be representing Miami Country Day School this year in North Carolina. Congratulations to Anita Bruzzi, Maria Carstensen , Olivia Pelletier, and Niki Rivero

Collins Ames threw a 1-hitter, striking out 14, and was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, Gracey McCoy had an RBI and 2 runs scored, Leyka Rojo was 1 for 2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, and Sharleah Lapaix was 1 for 2 with an RBI and run scored.

    Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Water Polo Team (13-8). They beat St. Thomas Aquinas in the Regional Finals 12-7. Briana Dunn led the way with 5 goals and 3 steals, Isa Possin scored 3 goals, made an assist, and had 2 steals, Sienna Kozlovski scored twice with 2 assists, 5 steals and 3 field blocks, Valeria Villanueva added a goal, 2 assists, and 5 steals, Micah Ressler had a goal and a steal, Sasha Blasky made two assists and a steal, Angie Del Guercio-Moran added 9 blocks from goal, and only allowed one goal in the second half of the game. The girls will play Gulliver in the State Final 4 at Belen Jesuit next Friday at a time to be determined.  
     
    The Boys Varsity Water Polo Team (11-12) lost to St. Thomas Aquinas in the Regional Finals 10-6. Leo Blaya and Max Possin each scored twice, Evan Miller and Simon Stenin both scored once, and Rafa Blaya recorded nine saves. 
     
    The Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team (8-7) lost to Calvary Christian in the District Quarterfinals in overtime 11-10. Niki Rivero led the way with 4 goals and 2 assists, Isabella Galofre had 3 goals and an assist, Olivia Pelletier scored 3 goals, and Arianna Castellon played well on defense.
     

    The Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team (6-10) lost to University School in the District Quarterfinals 7-4. Marcus Papunen led the way with 2 goals and an assist, Evan Hurwitz, Matthew Scemla, and Jonny Port each scored, Merritt Lubetsky had 12 ground balls, and Ethan Szekely-Valladares made 11 saves.

    The Boys Varsity Water Polo Team (11-11) beat ATM in the Regional Semifinals 14-13. Evan Miller and Leo Blaya each scored three goals, Max Possin, Franco Pastor, and Conrad Simpson all scored twice, Leni Saltos and Thiago Ometto each added a goal, and Rafa Blaya recorded nine saves. 
     
    The Softball Team (7-4) beat Marathon 10-0. Collins Ames threw a complete game no-hitter with 16 strikeouts, Sharleah Lapaix was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Maryam Rassif was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, and Maggie Houser was 2 for 3 wit 3 runs scored.
     
    The Girls Middle School Tennis Team tied for 2nd place in the South Florida Middle School Conference Championships. In singles, Gracie Schinman and Lola Shapiro finished runner-up, Soleil Price, Alexandra Holtz, and Cecile Assali made it to the semifinals. In doubles, Soleil and Gracie finished runner-up, and Alexandra and Lola advanced to the semifinals.
     
    The Boys Middle School Tennis Team tied for 2nd place in the South Florida Middle School Conference Championships. In singles, Emilio Lopez won the #1 singles championship, and Bento Queiroz, Sam Minski, Ryan Kunde, and Daniel Shtern all made the semifinals. In Doubles, Emilio and Bento, Sam and Ryan each  advanced to the semifinals
     
    The Boys Middle School Lacrosse Team (1-1-1) tied University School 4-4. Mayer Wolfson scored all four goals, and Grayson Lustbader made 7 saves.
     
    The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (10-3) beat Ransom Everglades 4-3. Gaby Bassette and Natalia Marquez won their singles matches, and Gaby and Ginger Jacob, Natalia and Rebecca Apfelbaum won their doubles matches.
     
    The Boys Varsity Tennis Team (8-4) lost to Ransom Everglades 4-3. Ben Lustig won his singles match, and Michael Claramonte and Francisco Apraiz, Oscar Bergier and Antonio Moura won their doubles matches.
     
    The Varsity Baseball Team (2-13) lost to Ransom Everglades 3-1. Avery Sinnes threw 5 innings, allowing 1 hit, while striking out 9, Tanner Sennett was 2 for 3. Liam Buttacavoli was 1 for 3, and Preston Boucher played outstanding behind the plate.

    The Boys Varsity Water Polo Team (10-11) beat Dr. Krop High School 12-6. Leo Blaya led the team with six goals, two assists, and five exclusions drawn, Max Possin and Thiago Ometto each added two goals, Simon Stenin and Alexis Talpe each scored, and Rafa Blaya recorded fourteen saves. 
     
    The Boys Varsity Tennis Team (8-3) lost to North Broward Prep 6-1. Ben Lustig won his singles match. 
     
    The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (9-3) lost to North Broward Prep 4-3. Gaby Bassette and Ariel Aranha-Carvajal won their singles matches, and Natalia Marquez and Rebecca Apfelbaum won their doubles match.

    The Girls Varsity Water Polo Team (10-8) beat South Broward High School 6-3 to win the District Championship. Sienna Kozlovski led the way with 3 goals, 1 assist, 6 steals, and 4 field blocks, Briana Dunn had 2 goals, 3 steals, Valeria Villanueva added 1 goal, 1 steal, Sasha Blasky had 2 assists, 3 steals, and Angie Del Guercio-Moran made 7 blocks and had 4 steals.
     
    The Varsity Baseball Team (2-11) lost to Marathon 14-5. Avery Sinnes hit a 3-run homerun, Eli Zaron walked twice, and Marcus Ferrer, Tanner Sennett, Jackson Boucher, and Drake Baldwin all had a hit.
     
    The Middle School Baseball Team (2-9)lost to Riviera Prep 20-0. Jackie Solomon doubled for the Spartans.

    The Softball Team (3-2) beat Ransom Everglades 22-0. Collins Ames threw the 3-inning shutout with 8 strikeouts, Mariana Muniz Rodriguez drove in 3 runs, Izzy Amsler was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Maggie Houser was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, and Sharleah Lapaix was 2 for 2 with 5 RBI.
     
    The Girls Varsity Water Polo Team (2-6) lost to Gulliver 21-2 and Ransom Everglades 11-7. Valeria Villanueva led the way with 4 goals, Briana Dunn had 3 goals, 3 assists, and 3 steals, Sienna Kozlovski added 2 goals and 5 steals, Sasha Blasky had 2 assists, and Angie Del Guercio-Moran made 12 blocks.

    The Middle School Baseball Team (1-4) beat Marathon 10-9, but lost 8-4. Moses Jerles hit a walk-off single in game 2, Marcus Ferrer homered in game 1, Ryder Mutchnik had 2 doubles, and Miles Wiesenfeld and Angelo Mendez each added a hit.
     
    The Girls Varsity Water Polo Team (3-7) beat Cutler Bay 14-6, but lost to West Orange 12-3. Valeria Villanueva had 5 goals, Sienna Kozlovski had 3 goals and 3 assists, Isa Possin and Micah Ressler each added 2 goals and an assist, Briana Dunn had 2 goals and 2 assists, and Michelle Rodriguez scored.

    The Boys Varsity Water Polo Team (1-0) beat Dr. Krop 14-3. Evan Miller scored three goals and had two assists, Max Possin had two goals and five assists, Leo Blaya and Franco Pastor each had two goals, Thiago Ometto, Kosta Stenin, Simon Stenin, Leni Zenatti, and Leni Saltos, each added one goal, and Rafa Blaya finished with eleven saves.

    Fan Bus – Girls Basketball..... On Wednesday, February 28, the Girls’ Basketball Team will play in the state semifinals in Lakeland at 5:00pm. We will be providing fan buses for students and parents at no cost. If the team wins on Wednesday, we will provide another bus for the final game on Friday, March 1.
     
    Please email me at kellyc@miamicountryday.org by Tuesday, February 27 at 12:00pm if you would like to go to Wednesday’s game on the bus. Students who sign up will receive a permission slip via My Country Day that they and their parent/ guardian need to sign in order to go.
     
    While MCDS is paying for all fan buses and entrance to the game, you may want to bring spending money for snacks. Meals will be covered.

    The Boys Middle School (Varsity) Basketball Team (1-14) beat Westwood Christian 34-32. Ari Allaei led the way with 20 points, 2 steals, and 7 rebounds, Mateus Tavares had 7 points, SJ Barea added 3 points and 3 steals, Eli Zaron had 4 steals, 3 rebounds, and 2 points, and Benjamin Brady added 2 rebounds and 2 points.
     
    The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (2-11-1) tied North Broward Prep 1-1. Brad Flick scored, and Albi Claramonte, Nicolas Bond, David Frenkel, Oliver Kozlowski, Nico Margarit, Jhonny Mercado, Manuel Apraiz, Oliver Shiff, Jake Nolet, Oscar Bergier, Dylan Meyer, Harry Growney, Eitan Deen, and Greg Meyer all played well.

    The Boys Varsity Basketball Team (9-9) lost to Miramar High School 48-46. Trey Wilson led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Michael Orbe had 6 points and 7 rebounds, and Malik Charles added 10 points and 3 assists.

    The Girls Middle School Soccer (13-1-2) tied Carrollton 0-0. Soleil Price made 5 saves, and Lucia Martinez, Alessandra Vega, Toni Grondin, Olivia Dull, Athena Tolles, and Amelia Ziolkowski all played well.

    The Boys Middle School (JV) Basketball Team (4-5) beat Westminster Christian 32-29. Enzo Porchetto had the way with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists, Luca Bosch had 5 points and 2 rebounds, Ashton Michaels added 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, Natan’el Ichak had 7 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds, and Maddox Smith had 3 points and a steal.

    The Boys Middle School Soccer Team (11-6) beat Westminster Christian 3-0. Sebastian Reyes scored all three goals, Teo Hofman and Cody Mitchell each had an assist, and Kenzo Fadigan, Sebastian Arango, Beckett Growney, and Nicolas Jaramillo all played well.

Kaliyah Morales had 12 points, 4 steals, 6 assists, and 2 rebounds, Kayla Nelms had 12 points and 5 rebounds, Jalynn Belton added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist, and Jada Johnson had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists.
     
    The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (7-7) beat Bullis School (MD) 59-54. Kaliyah Morales led the way with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals, Kayla Nelms had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists, Sofia Mendez added 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Kennedy Deal had 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

    The Boys Varsity Basketball Team beat Perry (KY) 86-68. Trey Wilson had 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists, Daltyn Simon added 14 points and 7 rebounds, Aiden Reid had 11 points and 3 rebounds, and Ashton Reid had 8 points and 8 rebounds.
     
    The Boys Varsity Basketball Team lost to Buford 59-39. Trey Wilson had 17 points and 6 rebounds, and Daltyn Simon added 4 points and 8 rebounds.
     
    The Boys Varsity Basketball Team beat SFA Academy 84-53. Dylan Johnson led the way with 23 points, Trey Wilson had 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Ashton Reid and Aiden Reid each added 6 points and 7 rebounds,
     
    The Boys Varsity Basketball Team lost to Central Pointe 75-53. Trey Wilson had 15 points and 8 rebounds, Malik Charles added 13 points and 3 rebounds, and Miguel Orbe had 13 points and 3 rebounds.
