Miami Country Day School was founded in 1938 as a residential proprietary boarding school for boys through eighth grade and has evolved remarkably over the past 81 years. The School has become a coeducational, nonprofit, interdenominational school with approximately 1250 students in PK3 through grade 12 representing approximately 29 countries. The school’s first twelfth grade graduating class was in 1981.
The education of the whole person, including the six potentials: intellectual, spiritual, social, aesthetic, physical, and emotional, and emphasis on the core values of honor, respect, wisdom, and compassion, are fostered within a strong college preparatory program.
The school is accredited by FCIS and SACS; active membership is maintained in NACAC, SACAC, ACCIS, NAIS, SAIS, CASE, CRIS, ERB, American Library Association and the College Board.

Extracurricular Activities:
In addition to the graduation requirements, MCDS students are required to complete 25 hours of community service per year; all meet or exceed those requirements through national and local community service groups represented on campus. Other organizations on campus include Thespians, yearbook, student government, literary magazine, chorus, orchestra, jazz band, and various political awareness organizations and numerous varsity team sports. Honor societies, including National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, English Honor Society of MCDS, Honor Society for Excellence in Science, John C. DuBois History Honor Society, Art Honor Society, French Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society, are selective in admission and requirements.

Miami Country Day School does not rank its students because of its small size, rigorous curriculum, and selective admission policy. -
